Johnnie-Walker-Keep-Walking-Lebanon-

Johnnie Walker, the iconic whisky brand, launched its new campaign on Wednesday. Diageo, the maker of Johnnie Walker, unveiled the campaign to a buzzing crowd of more than 300 people, including Lebanese VIPs, notable achievers, and media representatives at the world-renowned club, BO18. The Johnnie Walker brand has long stood for remarkable achievements and a progressive spirit, but this year, the campaign recognizes the collective and inextinguishable Lebanese spirit that keeps the nation moving forward against all odds.

Previous Johnnie Walker campaigns featured well-known Lebanese achievers such as Bernard Khoury, Elie Saab and Nadine Labaki, but the new campaign’s theme focuses on force in each and every one of us that keeps us walking and ignites our passion to persevere and continue achieving in Lebanon despite all, according to Marwan Badri, the Regional Director of Diageo Middle East and North Africa.

The inspiring “Keep Your Flame Alive” message was introduced in a three-minute motion picture showing a flame burning in the midst of a tumultuous storm, metaphorically resembling to the storm the country is currently facing. The film aims to not only spark a conversation, but also seeks to encourage people to overcome challenges, to persevere and achieve their dreams in Lebanon. Beyond launching a marketing campaign, Johnnie Walker went further by creating a platform for national engagement to inspire the public and foster a spirit of hope despite strife and instability.

Diageo’s guests were asked to make the first expressions on social media channels by posting their own inspirational messages of determination, hope and perseverance using the hashtag #KeepWalkingLebanon. Then, all posts were written in fire and transformed into artistic imagery by a fire calligrapher during a live, on-the-spot performance. The artistic fire calligraphy will continue for two weeks, depicting the inspirational messages of hope collected from around the country whenever someone posts using the campaign’s hashtag.

Lebanon will keep on walking and the flame will always stay alive. All fans and users are invited to log on to the Johnnie Walker Facebook page or their personal Twitter and Instagram accounts and start posting their messages. The Keep Walking Lebanon campaign’s theme will be activated throughout all market touch points to inspire Lebanese everywhere to keep their flame alive.

Entertainment at the Gala Dinner

Yaduna Foundation celebrated its Women Heart Health Center (WHHC) first anniversary in leading woman’s heart disease awareness, developing new diagnostic tools, and advancing specialized care for women in Lebanon. A Gala dinner headed by the President of Yaduna Mrs. Wafaa Sleiman took place at Biel to shed light on the women’s number one silent killer, its symptoms and the WHHC preventive approach designed to help women reduce their chances of heart disease, including state-of-art screening and testing.

“WHHC was created to decrease the death rate from cardiovascular diseases, considered as the leading cause of mortality both in Lebanon and worldwide”, said Mrs. Sleiman while stressing the major difficulties and obstacles the center encountered. “Now that the Center’s work has gained momentum on the ground, it is important to assess the performance in light of the results achieved as measured against the initial objectives”.

Since the opening of the center last September, more than 600 screening were conducted from which 47% were diagnosed with calcification of the coronary arteries. This test classified 12% of screened woman at high risk which implicated strict prevention recommendation and further coronary artery disease workup.

The Women Heart Health Center strives to improve the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in women and reduce the burden of the diseases through awareness and prevention programs, early diagnosis and initial treatment. WHHC’s goals could only be achieved through the collaboration with The American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine & Medical Center (AUBMC/FM) and Saint Joseph University Faculty of Medicine (USJ/FM).

It is worth mentioning that the cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death among women in the world. In fact, 56% of deaths among women are due to cardiovascular diseases while 64% of them did not appear to have any symptoms. Preventive examinations are crucial for women above the age of 45 and can be done at the Women’s Heart Health Centre in collaboration with eminent cardiologists regardless of their social background as the center is run by Yaduna, a not-for-profit foundation.

The Worst Foods You Can Eat

Unhealthy-Foods (1)

There is nothing unfamiliar here: these foods are all popular grocery store staples. But whether you are looking to lose weight or stay healthy, these are the foods you should avoid.

Processed Meat

2929699

Processed meats are high in calories, fat and sodium. Consuming these products regularly (meaning several times a week) puts you at risk for obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

What exactly are processed meats, anyway? Any meat that has been salted or endured a chemical process – such as hot dogs and lunch meats — fall into this category.

“Low-Fat” Foods

SCHILLER__low_fat_foodsFor decades now, the grocery store shelves have been filling with products marked “low-fat” and yet the American population just keeps getting fatter. How is this happening? These low-fat foods are filled with trans-fats which are bad for our hearts and cholesterol levels, and they also compensate for the loss of flavor with high amounts of sugar and sodium. A lose-lose for everyone.

Mayonnaise

mayonnaise-on-spoonOkay, nobody is fooling themselves into thinking that mayonnaise is a health food, but you may not realize just how unhealthy it is. One tablespoon contains 90 calories, 10 g of fat, and and 90 mg of sodium. This is one condiment that should be used very sparingly.

Frozen Dinners

frozen_collageAmericans just love convenience, and this has helped frozen dinners to become a mainstay at the grocery store. While some manufacturers have worked to create healthier options, most are exceptionally high in calories and sodium.

Margarine

Knife scooping up spreadable butter in a tubMargarine gained its foothold in the market because consumers were choosing it as the healthy alternative to fatty, sinful butter. But margarine is chock full of hydrogenated oils (trans-fats) which are known to cause cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more.

Soda and Sweet Drinks

Soda and Sweet DrinksLooking to lose weight? Soda is almost always the first thing that doctors suggest you eliminate from your diet. But soda isn’t just a concern for obesity. Regular and diet sodas have also been linked to kidney damage, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, and diet soda has been linked to an increased risk of stroke.
